Tesla CEO Elon Musk has taken a dig at short sellers of the electric vehicle company by selling limited edition shorts at a rather dubious price of $69.420.
The shorts, that are up for sale on Tesla’s website, mockingly welcome traders to ‘Celebrate summer with Tesla Short Shorts’. With ‘S3XY’ written across the back of the shorts, Tesla adds it will put wearers in ‘exceptional comfort from the closing bell’.
Shipping to the US only, the shorts temporarily crashed Tesla’s website and are now out of stock.

Yesterday’s tweet from Musk comes as Tesla’s share price continues to reach new all-time highs – today it has added another 10% as one of Wall Street’s most pessimistic analysts raised the target price on the stock.
Oh and the shorts and price tag has many hidden Easter eggs. The writing on the back of the shorts is a reference to the different Tesla models (Model S, 3, X and Y). And the .420 is rumoured to be a reference to the price that Musk considered taking Tesla private at.
Tesla share’s are now trading at 1,326 and last week reported car deliveries that beat expectations of analysts (a key measure in terms of gauging financial performance).
And well, the £69 part – we’ll leave you to figure that one out…
